Vatican City- Pope John Paul II was presented with an usual gift at his weekly general audience yesterday, when a group of Catholic magicians handed him a magic wand from india. Italian priest and amateur magician Silvio Mantelli donned a traditional magicians’ top hat over his clerical garb as he presented the pontiff with a glass case containing the wand. “I wish that the pope continues to weave his great magic around the world – peace and serenity” Mantelli said. Mantelli said his one request was that 19th-century saint John Bosco, known for his work with disadvantaged youth and founder of the Salesian Society Order, be officially proclaimed the patron saint of magicians by the Vatican.
